Shelby Jean Dean Ward was born to Homer Austin Dean and Ilah Josephine Nation in Jackson County, AL. She married Dee Wallace Ward, Jr. and has one son Stephen Dee Ward. 

Mrs. Ward attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute which is now Auburn University. She is the President of SDW Real Estate Investments, a travel consultant with Adventure Travel, and the Secretary - Treasurer of Rayward Realty and Wardean, Inc.
