Jon Paul Raymond Daddysman, Sr.

Jon Paul Raymond Daddysman, Sr., a native of Westernport, Maryland is the son of Paul Raymond Daddysman of Westernport and the former Violet Dolores Pettet of Piedmont, West Virginia.  Mr. Daddysman is a graduate of Bruce High School in Westernport.  Upon his graduation, he received seven academic scholarships, including a Maryland Senatorial scholarship.  He graduated with an A.A. degree from Allegany Community College (now Allegany College of Maryland), and a B.A. degree from Frostburg State University with a major in History and minor in Political Science.  During his working career he added a Masters Certificate in Government Contracting from The George Washington University, and numerous technical courses through Virginia Tech and the American University.

Mr. Daddysman retired from United Defense (now BAE Systems) in 2004.  In his over 23-year employment with United Defense, he held the positions of Manager of Industrial Engineering, Chief Project Engineer, and Manager of Operations Research and Cost Analysis.  While employed by United Defense, his areas of responsibility included cost estimating and analysis, proposal development, contract negotiation with the US and foreign governments, international co-production planning and implementation, and project management.  He additionally served as the Operations Representative for future-business planning and as the Company’s Industrial-Preparedness-Planning officer.  In his earlier career, he held positions as Department Executive with the Kate Greenaway Company of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Chief Industrial Engineer with the Pfaltzgraff Company of York, Pennsylvania, and Corporate Manager of Industrial Engineering with Reading Industries, Reading, Pennsylvania.  Throughout his career, he developed and instructed numerous seminars for industry and government employees, most notably on the subjects of “Cost Estimating and Analysis” and “Financial Applications of Simulation Models”.   

Mr. Daddysman has two sons from his marriage to Ramona Dawn VanPelt, as well as three granddaughters.  In retirement, he writes family stories and political articles, travels, collects stamps, enjoys genealogical research, and plays NTN trivia nationwide with friends.

Other Notes

Mr. Daddysman is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity in music.  He played drums in a variety of bands during his high school and college years, as well as arranging music.  He served on the West Manchester Planning Commission in York, PA, and as a Junior Achievement instructor in Spring Grove, PA.  He’s a lifetime member of the Westernport Heritage Society and the Allegany County Genealogical Society, a member of Victory Post 155 American Legion in Westernport, MD, and he served as Vice President of the Continental Congress Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution in York, Pennsylvania.
